Terms,in plain clauses.

These terms apply to every service we provide. Each clause is followed by what it means in practice. Custody of cells is set out separately on Trust and custody.

1. Scope: Reem Bio provides cell banking, cryostorage, genetic testing, preparation of regenerative therapies and cloning programmes. Veterinary treatment is given by licensed veterinarians, not by Reem Bio.
2. Quotation: Every service is quoted in writing, in US dollars, before any work begins. A quotation is valid for 60 days.
3. Payment: Cell banking is paid in full at collection. Cloning programmes are paid in stages set out in the programme agreement.
4. Storage fees: The first year of storage is included in cell banking. From the second year, cryostorage is $500 a year, invoiced annually in advance.
5. Unpaid storage: If storage is unpaid for twelve months after two written reminders, the line is held for a further twelve months before any other step is taken, and never destroyed without a final written notice.
6. Withdrawal: You may end any service at any time in writing. Fees for work already done are payable; unused storage paid in advance is refunded pro rata.
7. Limits of liability: Biological outcomes – the growth of a line, a pregnancy, a birth, a treatment result – cannot be guaranteed. Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the affected service, except in cases of gross negligence.
8. Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the federal laws of the UAE. Disputes are heard by the courts of Abu Dhabi.

Why they are written this way

A contract for cells that may be stored for decades should be readable by the person who signs it and by the person who inherits it. The formal agreement you sign says the same as the clauses above, in the same order.
