Pet cell banking, the first and smaller step.
Pet cell banking grows a living line from a small biopsy and freezes it, keeping genetic testing, regenerative therapy and cloning open for later without committing to any of them.

i.
What cell banking is
Cell banking is the growth and freezing of a living cell line from a small tissue sample, usually a skin biopsy taken under local anaesthetic at a partner veterinary clinic or at home. It is the step that makes everything else possible: genetic testing, regenerative therapy and cloning all begin from a banked line.
Banking commits you to nothing further. Many banked lines are never used again; the owner simply holds a choice that would otherwise close with the animal's life.
ii.
How it works here
After the biopsy, cells are cultured in Abu Dhabi, tested for viability and checked for contamination, and reach a stable line in about 21 days. The line is then split and frozen at −196 °C in two cities, so no single event – a fire, a storage failure – can end it. Shipping between our laboratories is included.
The best time to bank is while the animal is young and healthy, though we bank lines from older and recently deceased animals regularly, provided tissue is collected promptly and kept cool, not frozen.

What it is not
Cell banking is…
- A living line, kept viable in two cities.
- A choice that can be left unused indefinitely.
- The necessary first step for any later cloning.
Cell banking is not…
- Cloning itself.
- A guarantee that cloning will later be chosen or even possible.
- A substitute for veterinary care.

Questions
- How much does pet cell banking cost?
- $5,000 in the UAE, $6,500 in the GCC, and by consultation in the USA.
- How long does it take to bank a line?
- About 21 days from biopsy to a stable, tested, frozen line.
- Does banking commit me to cloning?
- No. Banking keeps the option open. Most banked lines are never used for cloning.
- Where is the biopsy taken?
- At a partner veterinary clinic or at home with a sealed kit.
- Is cryostorage included in the first year?
- Yes. The first year is included, and storage is $500 a year from the second year onward.
- Can I bank after my pet has died?
- Often, if tissue is collected as soon as possible and the body is kept cool, not frozen.
