How we serve clients in Japan
We do not operate a laboratory in Japan. What we provide is a sealed collection kit, sent ahead to a partner veterinarian of your choosing, who takes a small skin biopsy under local anaesthetic in their own clinic, in a procedure that takes only a few minutes.
Once collected, the sample is packed in the kit's chilled medium and shipped by courier in transport medium to our California laboratory – or to Abu Dhabi on request – where it is placed in culture on arrival.

What happens once the sample arrives
The receiving laboratory logs the sample, begins culture, and tests the line over about three weeks. Once established, the line is mirrored to a second city – if it was banked in California, a portion travels to Abu Dhabi by dry shipper; if it was banked in Abu Dhabi, a portion travels to Bahrain – so it is held in two places from the start.

What a banked line makes possible
From a banked line, clients in Japan can request genetic testing, ask their own veterinarian to prescribe a regenerative therapy prepared from it, or, later, request cloning from the banked line. Cloning is carried out at our specialised cloning facility; a cloned animal is born there and arranged for travel to Japan under the relevant import rules, which we help you plan for in advance.
