Prices in full: what cellbanking and cloning cost.

Preservation and cloning are unfamiliar enough as services that vague pricing adds an extra layer of hesitation on top of an already difficult decision. We would rather an owner or breeder know, before ever contacting us, roughly what to expect financially, and reserve the consultation for the questions that actually need a conversation: which panel to run, which species considerations apply, what a realistic timeline looks like for their specific animal.

The figures below are current. Where a service is described as being quoted rather than fixed, that reflects genuine variation in scope, not a reluctance to state a number.

The one-time banking fee covers the biopsy coordination with your veterinarian, laboratory processing of the tissue into a growing line, the testing required before a deposit is accepted – mycoplasma, contamination, DNA identity, viability – and the division of twelve vials across two cities. The difference between the UAE and wider GCC price reflects the added cost of sample transport and coordination across a border, not a difference in the work performed once the line arrives at the laboratory.

The $500 annual fee covers the ongoing cost of maintaining liquid nitrogen levels, monitoring temperature continuously, and keeping the registry record current across both banked cities, for as long as the line is stored. It is billed regardless of whether the line is ever used for anything beyond storage, which is the case for most lines in our vaults.

Genetic testing is quoted per panel rather than at a fixed rate, because the cost depends on what is being tested: a single-marker parentage check is a different piece of laboratory work from a broad heritable-disease screen. We quote each request individually once we know what an owner or veterinarian needs, and results typically take three to six weeks. Testing draws DNA from a spare vial already in storage, so it does not require a new sample from the animal or disturb the rest of the deposit.

Stem cell and platelet-rich plasma therapies are offered by consultation rather than at a published price, because they must be prescribed by a licensed veterinarian for a specific condition, and the scope – number of sessions, cell dose, whether stem cells or PRP or both are indicated – varies by case. Outcomes vary by condition and by animal, and regulation differs from country to country, which is another reason this is handled through direct consultation rather than a fixed menu. These are starting prices because the work involved – nuclear transfer, embryo culture, surrogate selection and care, pregnancy monitoring, and delivery – varies in scope depending on species, on how many transfer attempts a case requires, and on surrogate availability at the time. Horses are quoted entirely by consultation because equine reproductive programmes vary widely by breed, intended use, and the surrogate options available for a given case.

Preservation of a line is always priced and billed separately from any cloning decision. Many clients bank a line for years, or indefinitely, without ever moving toward cloning, and the two services are not bundled – banking a line commits you to nothing beyond the storage itself.

The one-time banking fee is invoiced once a sample has been accepted into the laboratory and testing has begun, not at the point of initial enquiry or consultation. We do not take a deposit against a sample that has not yet arrived, because the fee covers work performed on tissue we are actively holding, not a reservation of future capacity. Annual cryostorage is invoiced on the anniversary of the original deposit date shown on the certificate, and covers both banked cities under a single line item rather than being billed separately per location.

Genetic testing and any cloning work are invoiced in stages tied to the work actually performed – for cloning, this typically means separate invoices at the point cell line preparation begins, at confirmed pregnancy, and at delivery, rather than a single upfront sum for an outcome that has not yet occurred. This is deliberate: we would rather a client pay for stages completed than for a result we cannot promise in advance.

All prices on this page are in US dollars, and we accept payment by bank transfer as standard, with other arrangements discussed directly for institutional or multi-animal clients. If a service is cancelled after work has begun – a biopsy already processed into a growing line, for instance – the portion of the fee covering completed laboratory work is not refundable, since it reflects real materials and staff time already spent, though this is confirmed clearly in writing before any work starts.

None of our prices include veterinary fees for the biopsy itself, which are billed by your own veterinarian; cross-border import or export handling beyond shipping between our own laboratories; or outcomes of any kind. We price the work we perform, not the result of a biological process none of it can fully control. If a figure above does not map cleanly onto your situation – a mixed-breed animal, a second deposit for an existing client, a request that spans two of these categories – that is exactly what the consultation is for. We would rather quote precisely once than estimate loosely twice.
